to foreigners coming to live in their village and make you feel welcome.

However, if you prefer, there is a good International School on the coast. Many places of interest are within driving distance. They include the underground caverns at Nerja, the yacht marina at Marbella, the city of Malaga with its many shops and concert venues. History is all around, Moorish architecture in the villages and Moorish watchtowers on the coast not to mention the famous Alhambra in Granada. Whether you wish to live here permanently or simply enjoy having a holiday home, the Cómpeta area has a lot to offer. The Sierra Almijara National Park is an ideal venue for serious walkers or for those simply wanting to stroll around near to the picnic areas. The views are magnificent and the Mountains of Africa and the Rock of Gibraltar can be seen on a clear day. Only by a visit can you experience the timeless feeling of this wonderful area. To watch the goatherd tend his charges on the hillsides, the old men travelling out to their fincas on mules or sitting in the village square chatting or playing dominoes and the ladies having a gossip on their doorsteps makes you forget the rush and bustle and enjoy a step back in time to when life was lived at a more relaxing pace. |
